Linux has become the operating system of choice to build the world's
largest supercomputers. These computers are capable of producing
trillions of operations per second and are used to solve complex
problems of international importance. The time has come to evaluate
the current state of Linux and its viability to support the next
generation of supercomputers. This talk will highlight the lessons
learned in developing and deploying an 11.8 TeraFLOP Linux based
supercomputer and what challenges must be addressed for Linux to
continue to be the operating system of choice for the world's largest
   computers.
