no special reason ;) i just put the matrox card in first 'short' pci slot
available (i had to replace my powerstorm 4d40t card, which collects dust
now, to get decent framebuffer).

i had no luck with x11r so far :( but that's story for another thrad, and be
sure that i'll bother you it ;) just first have to get the 2.4/2.6 i need.

thank you for the hint. i've replaced the card to the most bottom slot (it's
one of the two 64-bit), now `lspci` shows:

the problem with init of the qlogic car still persists :(
by the way, is there a driver for the "Contaq Microsystems 82c693" controller?
could not find anything related in the kernel.
