I'm mostly staying out of this decision because I'm too busy, as I said, but -
many of the visas that got approved in connection with DebConf10 could still be
valid 4 years later for DebConf14. Not all, of course. Any such visa holders
could tell this from the visa in their passport. Even if they've gotten a new
passport since then, they can bring a currently valid visa in an
expired/replaced passport together with their current passport.

I have no idea whether the lawyer who helped us then has the time to help us
now (he might), but the invitation letter process had gotten almost fully
automated with some python scripts and my signature (as a designee of the SPI
board to sign the visa invitations). If he or another lawyer is willing to
represent any attendees who have problems and say so in the letter, this
process should be easy to repeat.

There were of course some visa denials, but way fewer than feared, and we did
have approvals even from countries where the worries were strongest (e.g.
Venezuela and Central America).
