(No need to CC: I'm on the list)

Rudy's has redone the translations from scratch because he was not aware
they were in fact translated previously. Actually, it would have been
better to just make a list of the available translations and do a msgfmt
--statistics on them. Unfortunately, Rudy's translation is all but uselless
to me and, after all, I'm the Last-Translator and the one that should have
been contacted (not the Translation-team).

Contacting the translation team in this way is a bad idea because the team
(as a whole) does not necessarily now if somebody else has worked on that
po file. Granted, Rudy should have checked the package source code or the
translation statistics up at www.debian.orf first and he should have seen
me as the previous translator. However, the way you put it in the mail
looked like the translations were all obsolete when that is not the case.

In any case, next time it will be best if you sent the e-mail to the
Last-Translator and, if the mail bounces, then send to the translation
team. :-)

Oh, and by the way, you should _not_ have updated the spanish translation
in CVS. The previous translation (available at
http://cvs.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/john/debian/po/es.po?rev=1.10&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup&cvsroot=pkg-john)
could have been updated/improved to adapt to the new templates. That is a
better path than replacing it with a translation written from scratch that
has not been reviewed by the translation team.

Javier
