Possibly because XFree6 4.2.1 has a different event scheduler in the X
server.

Well, our kernel maintainer has been unresponsive to the kernel
keybounce bug, which I see on the virtual console of my iBook from time
to time.  He insists it's X's fault.

The mouse acceleration handling has likely also changed since XFree86
3.x.  That code base is very old by now.  Much is different.
