The -mentors list seems to basically focus on requests for sponsorship and occasionally packaging questions. It seems a bit misnamed to me for this reason, but I don't know if it was ever intended to be a formal mentoring project. It seems to function on the standard assumption that real hackers need to learn on their own and so forth. I don't necessarily disagree with that, but there's room for all types. DW's mentoring program was rolled out in order to be a sort of "proof of concept", which is why it hasn't been highly publicized -- there are quirks to work out and it's easier to do it on a small scale before proposing anything radical to a pre-existing project with similar goals. If it's successful, the goal is to move it to -mentors, but it seems we're lacking mentees, so perhaps it would be better off there. I'd still like to have a tiny bit more formality though. -- off the chain like a rebellious guanine nucleotide
