I don't think it'd be easy to maintain an heterogenous system of debianised
software on top of non-debianised base packages from upstream. If an
essential part of the system happens to be broken, there's no BTS to
keep track about it, and no Debian Maintainer to blame^W get help from ;)

IMHO the best way would be providing a complete base system on which
we can relay on.. we're certain that debian packages are well integrated
on GNU/Linux, so if we port them from the base they might need lesser
tweaks
to work.

I'd also prefer an installation program to start on a bare windoze system
than
some scripts to start on an already installed cygwin environment.

regarding to the name, how about asking for a poll in debianplanet?
