More than a decade ago, that was changed (more or less silently) and currently, the (big) companies, making the most sales, get up in the rankings, which lead to an enormous flow of money from the less priviledged/poorer people (and small companies) to the big ones, thereby strengthening the already ongoing tendency to make the rich people even richer. And when that got discovered by the employees ... (imagine: they stopped publishing their data) The Big Tech companies are busy to de-anonymise the internet in order to augment their knowledge/income even more, and in order to do that, it would be very convenient, if every user was forced to authenticate themself undoubtedly. But let's not talk about that. Let the "official reasonning" be based on "security". Great cover story, bcoz we like to trust the security mirage [Bruce Schneier]! But hell! What do we even know? At least, i for myself left Gmail and all the other Alphabet dependencies at this point. DdB
