As already explained by Thomas, the netinst image itself doesn't contain 
any Desktop Environment (and probably never did).

If you selected XFCE Desktop Environment during install and the 
graphical environment doesn't work the first thing to try is the image 
including firmware, as this is required by many modern graphic devices:

Otherwise please describe in detail what is (or not) happening after the 
install is completed.
