My shell scripts are all broken now and I'm afraid that next week, after I change all my scripts, something will change things back. Or increment them again. Anybody have an explanation? Or somewhere I can start looking? Or know how whatever labels Ethernet ports does it (or why they weren't called 0 and 1 in the first place)?
This something is called udev.Look in udev rules, try to unload and load kernel module for the network card and see what are udev actions.
