Yes, I can reproduce this here, too. Seems it helps to run the configuration
screen with a previous version (0.68 compiled from source works here).
Should not be an issue for the OP though, because Debian 9.X was mentioned :)

The linked https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=889956 is still
present in the newest version. I think I am going to ask upstream about
these bugs. Thanks for making me aware of them.
