Re: Running buster with jessie kernel possible?



As to the subject question, I cannot answer, however, see below:

The latter indicates you have [Radeon HD 8570D] [1002:990e] graphics.

I have Radeon HD 8570 (no D) running on Buster. My kernel cmdline includes the following:

mitigations=auto consoleblank=0 plymouth.enable=0 radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=1 vga=791 video=1440x900@60 

I have these packages installed:

firmware-amd-graphics

libdrm-amdgpu1
libdrm-radeon1

I have nothing in /etc/X11/xorg.con* relevant to graphics.
