  hi,
  I thought it was better to rename this thread, as the discussion shifted
  a little.
  I have a question about resolv.conf:
  I tried to remove it,  and the result was:
     on my desktop PC, dns no more works
     on my laptop, it still works (without any running avahi or network-manager)

 any explanation?
