Who is "them"? "Not us"?
Perhaps you're trying to construe a conflict where, actually there
isn't one.
Now if I were in charge of systemd-ask-password, I'd be willing to
incorporate suppression of the stars as a user-configurable option,
but I'd be firmly against changing the default.
YMMV.
