it logs out.

That sounds like you're talking about an xterm, not X.

Well if the OP is starting multi-X as the same user, that's not advisable, from what I read, different users are okay and currently there maybe problems if plasma is involved, also from what I read.

And yes, I was posting about simple logout and nothing about stopping X.

Now I'll just listen and learn.
