Everything is relevant. Whether it is involved in your issue is a
different matter. :) However, the LabelWriter 450 has no built-in
fonts; therefore the font which is used and its size is a feature
of what is done on the host computer.

I was trying to find out how you were printing. It appears you are
sending a text file to the printer with lp(r). Please correct this
if I am misunderstanding. It's important.

Indeed it doesn't. But man lp does mention -o cpi and this can also
be used with lpr. I do not think your problem lies with cpi though.
I have an idea; but first, you are sending a text file to the printer?
Look at a page in firefox with the font set first to freefont and then
to dejavu (both mono). Does either resemble your previous and present
font?
