I found myself in a similar situation as yours, I managed to recover what
I deleted with PhotoRec, which is also found in Debian repos.

Since that day I have this alias which I use instead of rm -rf

    alias bmin='mkdir -p $BinDir; mv -i -f -t $BinDir'
