To be frank, I don't really know if caching is enabled or not.  Never
thought about it.  Never checked.  Since I never installed a
desktop/environment of any kind on this system (window manager only),
whatever they set up is not.  But I'm assuming it is, since "caching"
is the default and is built into the kernel.

I'll check anyway.  Maybe, it's not enabled for removable devices.

You know, I've never even seen a key that doesn't have an LED on it.
Of course, I only buy the big "thumb" drives and not the teenie, tiny
ones designed to be inconspicuous.
