Not a bad idea but it doesn't tell you where the file in ~/.mozilla/plugins

You look to be right about the precedence; 'about:plugins' shows the one
in ~/.mozilla/plugins as second in the Path:. The symlink doesn't appear
to be needed when /.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so is the only file
on the system.
