Yes, various forum users do object loudly.
But you can find any opinion there.

No it isn't. We already have our "bzw.".
It is an illegal alien in english language who is
already registered by the local trade control authorities
and pays taxes.
(Just like the genitive apostrophe is in german. We will
never get rid of it again.)
