Well, 14:cc:20:11:82:ec yields "14:CC:20 TP-LINK TECHNOLOGIES CO.,LTD"
on a couple of websites, which is not incompatible with that reasoning.

Hard in what way? I see drivers at
http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-WN725N_V2.html#Driver
(for version 2), but I've no idea if either works.
