The Debian (testing) freezes in time network initialization/settings. After some inspection i found, that if freezes while loading the driver (kernel module) - i forgot exactly driver/module name, but it was for BCM4313 WiFi adapter. Then i switch to installer's console (before network settings take place) and blacklist this module, to installer can continue and end own job. After installing particular firmware i can reenable the module and WiFi works as expected. Perhaps i was doing something wrong, but IMHO this is not good way, nor direction. Adding firmware on the USB key is situation from Win XP's time – more than 10 years ago, not solution for these days, especially no for netinst, where the most of SW installation is done online. One can tell, that first is needed to test the HW by the Live CD, but in Live CD all works! I didn't inspect why, but perhaps there are more things installed in Live CD as in netinst CD (which is my preferred method to install testing). Why there is not a option to allow to add nonfree repo in installer and thus allow to load necessary drivers in early stage of the installation? Perhaps only in expert mode... Yes, this can expect some manual reading to find this solution (if ti will be exist), but once again - loading drivers from separate media is step back in time. regards -- Slavko http://slavino.sk
