and, andrei, to prevent misunderstanding: there is absolutely nothing wrong with the debian variant of the mplayer. i installed this debian version on one of my sid-machines and let it play my beloved jazz music of oliver nelson (mplayer -ao alsa -af extrastereo=4 *.*)
