Those are files for managing the drive unit in windows and mac, I guess.
They can be drivers and/or backup utilities you are not going to use in
linux. Make a full copy of all of them so you can safely remove.

Using gparted, parted, cfdisk... as usual :-)

Then use a most suitable filesystem format, such as ext3/ext4/reiserfs/
xfs... YMMV.
