Thanks, that looks like just what I was after, and touches a few
things I had forgotten about.

PS - looks like your idea of watching the thread is not going to gain
you much... I think people are seeing that you did a great job of
covering the likely problems and there solutions.

Nice that you brought that up.  I agree that cloning from a VM would
be quite likely to cause some kind of hardware problems.
