What does "ls -al /dev/sr0" output?
What does "ls -al /dev/scd0" output?

Are you sure the media is ok?
That is does the media play ok, can you see the contents from another
computer. Is your DVD player/recorder OK with dual layer DVD's

> $ apt-cache policy dvd+rw-tools brasero

> dvd+rw-tools:

Do these versions work with dual layer DVD's?
