$ ls -al /dev/sr0
brw-rw----+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 Feb 4 09:17 /dev/sr0
$ ls -al /dev/scd0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Feb 4 09:17 /dev/scd0 -> sr0

Yes. Works fine with my macminig4 box.

This is somewhat my question: how do I know that ?

Again this is my question. Anyway I used dd and I can copy the iso image:
$ dd if=/dev/sr0 of=backup.iso
16386432+0 records in
16386432+0 records out
8389853184 bytes (8.4 GB) copied, 687.9 s, 12.2 MB/s
I'll try next to see if I can burn that iso now.
