I usually skim and delete these types of arguments but this one
somehow struck a chord - in a dissonant way.

If MS is evil then so is every corporation. In the business world,
there is just one law, that of the jungle. The most determined and
ruthless win; every time...

I am a member of a support team that manages thousands of Solaris and
Linux servers, from Windows workstations using Putty, TeraTerm, or
Sun's SGD. If I insisted on a Linux desktop, I would be out of a job
because it is not an option, at this company and all others where I
have worked.

Here, as is the case at many previous employers, the IT infrastructure
is Windows-centric whether for "messaging and scheduling"
(Exchange/Outlook) or the general and the IT intranets (IE required).
