FWIW, this is my experience as well. I have it on on-demand always,
and it's hot to the touch over the fan (bottom left of kb). This is
AMD-64 Turion X2 Dual core.
I second another's suggestion to keep the fan clear. Doesn't help on
heat, but it may help keep it from burning up.
