I've tried that at times with no luck on the CDs:
hpotter:/home/daddy# hdparm -d on /dev/hda
on: No such file or directory
hpotter:/home/daddy# hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)
My HDs are SATAs, so hdparm doesn't work, written as above, at least.
Do you know whether there is a setting or series of settings in my
kernel that I don't realize need to be changed?? (I roll my own.)
