Which versions of the kernel are you running? Your problems may be due
to certain recent extensions in the CIFS module, which some servers
cannot handle properly.

Access the SMB shares with smbclient and test if you can create new
files/directories and delete existing (dummy) files. This should tell
you if the problem is limited to nautilus or if it is a general problem
with CIFS.

In the latter case you should test if

echo "0" > /proc/fs/cifs/LinuxExtensionsEnabled

improves the situation.
