RE: Where do you put your swap partition?
I think that's quite reasonable.

(Sorry to be late to the show.)
All my systems run from a single disk drive. I put the
swap partition as close to the middle of the disk on the
theory that that'll minimize seek time for a function I want
to run as quickly as possible. Is this reasonable?
