So, with no KDE running, you can mount the CD in /media/cdrom0, and read
the contents.  If you then start up Konqueror and navigate to
/media/cdrom0, you don't see any files.  If you leave Konqueror running
and go to a shell, cd to /media/cdrom0 and do an ls -al, what do you
get?
