If you're not in the mood to write a script, you can use mc (Midnight Commander). MC has two panes, and you can have one pane view the directory and the other view md5sums.gz. In the directory pane, you can tag (using Control-T) the files that you see in the other pane (md5sums.gz). When you're done tagging files, you can them tell mc to copy all of them at once to a new location.
Thankyou, I like mc but I already used a for loop to move the passed debs to another directory. I'd however like to know why did the other 400 files failed. Actually the error message from md5sum wasn't just FAILED, it was: "FAILED to read or open file or directory" but that was for everything other than OK. This means that the 400 other packages do not have a checksum included in the md5sums.gz? Can I do something still? Regards, Deboo -- Please don't Cc: me, I'm subscribed to the list.
