A great value that I get from X is the capability to have several 
different xterms open, so X is not *just* for GUI applications.  Yes,
screen can also be used for this (I guess), but with X you can have 
one screen showing terminal sessions from one or different hosts, move
them around, shrink, expand, hide, etc., etc.
