i2c_core 19680 3 i2c_dev,nvidia,i2c_i801

Do you have lm-sensors installed?
What does the 'sensors' command show?

Installed lm-sensors, and then: michael@ratty:~$ sensors
No sensors found!
Make sure you loaded all the kernel drivers you need.
Try sensors-detect to find out which these are.

Did you add i2c-i801 to /etc/modules?
