If you look back as recently as Vietnam, you can see that we find the answer to your question. LBJ started (yes, he actually used the Gulf of Tonkin "incident" as justification to start armed hostilities) the Vietnam War and left it for Nixon to clean up. We have to go all the way back to the Civil War to find a Republican president who lead us at the beginning of a war effort (note: I did not say start a war) who left the conflict for a Democrat to finish up. I think in Abe Lincoln's case, we can make a special exception. So, your assertion that Democrats always "cleaning up after Republicans" is demostrably false. If anything, the Republicans *and* the Democrats have to clean up after the Democrats. Any other brilliant questions?
