Okay, let us start out with a fresh understanding. I finally found the
proper documentation of the Thomson Speedtouch 530v6.

Yes, this particular device is an ADSL Modem and Router with built-in
hardware firewall.

This means 2 things. First; If you have turned on the NAT and forwarded
ports already, the firewall is working. Second; Unless you are paranoid
you do not need a second firewall for most things.

Okay, since your 530v6 has only one RJ45 and one USB port, it
effectively doesn't do what you want. You have indicated you want
wireless access, one access point typically supports many machines on
wireless and you have 2 machines with wired requirements.

A good solution for you would be to purchase a wireless access point
with a built-in 4-8 port switch.

Basically you could use a Linksys WRT54G and be in great company. They
are relatively cheap and widely worked out. You can make it so that it
only does basic networking without a second firewall, and not change
your Speedtouch at all. Just plug in the Linysys into your speedtouch
via the RJ45 and voila. The plug in you wired machines. Make sure you
only use one DHCP server (the speedtouch or the Linksys)

You would only have to configure you Wireless to be able to connect with
your wifi enable machine.

One thing you need to understand, even the best consumer grade firewalls
odn't protect from e-mail virusesesesss, you will still need to use
virus scanning on your Windows without fail.

Also, once you have a setup like this, you can enable Samba and many
other services with only a small amount of fear of problems. As long as
you keep out the baddies with the firewall you re pretty well set.
