This has always confused me:  Who does *not* know that the purpose
of an Army (and, by extension, the Marines) is to "kill people and
break things"?

It's why they give you a rifle, teach you to love it, teach you to
hit what you aim with it, run you (chanting all the way) into the
ground, make you crawl thru pig entrails while shooting machine guns
overhead, and drill you over and over again to stab people with a
big scary-looking knife.

Of course, the Marines do it better than the Army, but that's
another story.
