A Windows xp client did this following your steps wanting to use my Debian cups server's hp deskjet printer. And then he printed one webpage as a test. The printer did nothing :( But the log in the cups seems ok. Here it is: ===== 192.168.4.94 - - [05/Jan/2007:20:00:39 +0800] "POST /printers/HP3740 HTTP/1.1" 200 308469 Print-Job successful-ok 192.168.4.94 - - [05/Jan/2007:20:21:11 +0800] "POST /printers/HP3740 HTTP/1.1" 200 46947 Print-Job successful-ok ===== I remembered the xp client using a "Deskjet Printer" as its driver when it "add a printer" because no that specific driver supplied in the Windows xp. Is this the reason ? 2007/1/6, Roberto C. Sanchez <roberto@connexer.com>:
Start -> Settings -> Printers and Faxes -> Add Printer Click "Next" Select "network printer" and click "next" Select "connect to a printer on the Internet" type in the URL: ipp://name-or-ip-of-server/printername Click "Next" I am not certain from there since my network doesn't have any CUPS machines serving up printers. If the ipp:// URL doesn't work, try http://name-or-ip-of-server:631/printername (note the added port specification) instead. Regards, -Roberto -- Roberto C.
