Normally bug reports show up after a few minutes.

Can you switch back to a tty after X hangs? (CTRL + ALT + F1 etc.) If
so, run
egrep '^\((EE|WW)\)' /var/log/Xorg.0.log
and post the output here.
awk '/Section "(Module|Device|ServerFlags|Extensions)"/,/EndSection/' /etc/X11/xorg.conf
would also be interesting.
