A commercial TV playing / capturing / recording package called SageTV
runs on Windows and Linux. I haven't tried the Linux version but the
Windows version is pretty good. A nice bonus is an add-on product that
lets you view TV and do all other functions over the Internet. It costs
around $100 US.
