I had the same problem: The fonts were not as sharp as they were before
the update, so I thought of a anti-aliasing or subpixel hinting
problem. The solution that worked for me was to delete (by moving to
another dir) my personal fontconfig file: ~/.fonts.conf

After restarting xfs and x server everything looked fine again.

Because my .fonts.conf only contained some settings for font hinting, I
guess something was changed recently regarding these settings. I did
not have the time to search a changelog for that. I do not even know
which package's changelog I should look at ;-)
