What I remember from one of your earlier messages looked OK to me: Just
use

gksudo /usr/sbin/firestarter --start-hidden

in the appropriate place of the GNOME Preferences, as Alexander
suggested. (I have to admit that I don't know Gnome too well, so this
might be wrong...)
