download the deb of the kernel you want to run (probably and SMP
variant). use 'ar' to unarchive it (google for this). then look at the
file 'boot/config-blah' with less or vi or whatever.

# CONFIG_NOHIGHMEM is not set
CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y
# CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G is not set
CONFIG_HIGHMEM=y

look for those lines.

if CONFIG_HIGHMEM=y and CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G=y are set, you are gold.
