The relevant parts of my muttrc for dealing with mailing lists:

set followup_to
set honor_follow_up_to=yes
set ignore_list_reply_to=no
set reply_to
set reply_regexp="^(re:[ \t]*)+"
alias debian-user Debian User List <debian-user@lists.debian.org>
alias debian-kde Debian KDE List <debian-kde@lists.debian.org>
subscribe debian-user debian-kde


The above allows me to use "L" to reply to the list.
