I'm not sure whether this is suitable for your situation, but you may
want to take a look at the "ifrename" package. It allows you to specify
static names for your network interfaces, based on various criteria,
such as MAC address etc.

The package is originally from "wireless-tools", so I'd be very
surprised if it isn't doesn't wireless NICs!
