I tried replacing the cable.
If I plug the keyboard in, I hear the sound, which
tells me, that my switch has recognized the presence of the keyboard, but
nothing else happens.
So I guess I have to find out, what the difference
is, between a standard debian sarge install with X and knoppix. Maybe I
have a chance to make it work that way...
