I first saw autodetection in LindowsOS (now Linspire) and Xandros, but it is 
now in Debian as well and seems to work well.  I think the only thing I had 
to configure manually and did not get quite right because I did not write 
notes to myself after previous installs is getting my multi-card reader to 
work.  It works, just not as well as it did in prior installations.
