The old card was an ISA NE2000 compatible card.

The new card is a PCI Network Everywhere NC100U-WM.

Network Everywhere does not provide tech support for
linux, but they do show where to get source and how to
compile the driver. They also show how to install the
driver on Slackware with a 2.0.XX kernel. Well, the
driver that they say to compile is the tulip driver,
and I have that already in my /lib/modules/2.2.17/net/
directory, so I removed the ne2000 line from
/etc/modules and replaced it with a tulip line with no
parameters. Unfortunately, the card is not being
found when the system reboots.

I tried to run 'modprobe tulip' but I get the
following error:

# modprobe tulip
Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than
/lib/modules/2.2.17/modules.dep
/lib/modules/2.2.17/net/tulip.o: init_module: Device
or resource busy
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module
parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.2.17/net/tulip.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.2.17/net/tulip.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.17/net/tulip.o: insmod tulip failed

What does "lspci -vv" report about the card?
